Lawn Care

We recommend mowing your lawn when the grass is dry, and during the coolest part of the day.

It’s better to recycle your lawn clippings back into your lawn as the clippings can account for up to 25% of the annual nitrogen requirements needed for the lawn.

Regardless of the season, your lawn needs at lest 1”- ½” of water weekly. A good test to see if your lawn is getting enough water is to push a 6″ screwdriver into your lawn. If it can’t go through easily, then you should be watering your lawn more often.

It is important to keep your lawn cut to a height of 2 1/2 – 3″, depending on what time of the season it is.

Mowing at the right height will allow the blades to stay upright and not be clumpy when they’re cut. By alternating the pattern, this allows more growth for the grass and prevents ruts form occurring.

A healthy lawn helps the environment because it cleans the air, traps carbon dioxide, and improves the soil quality.

Your shrubs should typically be pruned in late winter or early spring. If you choose to do a heavy pruning, this will reduce the flower display for a few years. In comparison, rejuvenation pruning can restore the health of your shrubs and allow for more flowers to grow.

Use hand pruners to carefully cut the longer stems just above the bud. Shrubs should be pruned depending on their ages. Young shrubs should be pruned lightly to ensure they will grow fuller.

To prune a shrub, cut wayward branches, take out thin growth, cut stems growing up from the roots and stems from the trunk and branches. Remember, your shrub will stay healthier if you remove branches regularly that are dead or diseased.

If the tree you want to remove is small, try using a shovel to dig the stump out and expose its roots. Then, cut away at the roots with an axe and pull them out. If the tree you want to remove is big, then we recommend calling a professional as it can be very dangerous.

Landscaping

To us, landscaping includes projects both large or small, and commercial or residential. It’s installations and planting, irrigation, night lighting, and just about everything in between. Whether it’s maintaining an existing landscape or starting from scratch, our goal is always the same: to help our clients achieve their perfect landscape. We really like what we do, and we think you’ll like it too.

Plants and trees can help a landscape by increasing property value, lowering cooling and heating costs, removing pollutants from the air, and reducing storm water runoff, all while creating a stunning landscape.

Mulch

Having mulch on your property reduced surface water evaporation from the soil, prevents soil erosion, improves air movement, and keeps soil at it’s appropriate temperature during the summer and winter.

Once a year with a light layer, approximately 1-2″ depending on how much is already down in the beds. You should be careful not to cover the crown of the plant.

All mulch is good for your property, but our favorite mulch is made of bark. The bark mulch is healthy, long lasting, reduces maintenance, and makes your lawn look fresh.

Irrigation

Irrigation systems are the most efficient way to water your property without over-watering. They can save you a lot of time and can also conserve water.

An irrigation system works on its own as a watering system. It helps maintain a healthy landscape by watering a property only when it’s needed.
