At Piscataqua Landscaping and Tree Service, we believe learning never stops. Though we have years of experience as certified snow professionals, we’re always looking for ways to improve. Our team is dedicated to ongoing education, staying up to date on the latest industry innovations and best practices so we can deliver the best service possible. The weather is always changing, and so is the technology we use to manage it–so we’re constantly adapting to stay ahead. This proactive approach to snow management has helped us remain leaders in the field.
Recently, our team attended the New Hampshire Salt Symposium in Portsmouth, presented by the Snow & Ice Management Association (SIMA). The event is focused on educating snow pros about trends in snow and ice management and improving operations while reducing salt use. It’s also a chance to earn credits toward Green SnowPro Certification, something we take seriously as part of our commitment to sustainability. Our Snow Manager Dean Outhouse sat on the Tech & Innovation in Commercial Winter Management panel, speaking about innovative technology like cameras and pavement sensors that enable local municipalities to manage winter conditions more effectively.
For the panel Navigating the New Normal, our VP of Business Development Jay Rotonnelli spoke about how the industry is evolving and the ways companies can rethink business as usual when it comes to every aspect of operations–from sales to staffing and equipment. With 30 years of experience, he highlighted the challenges posed by changing weather patterns and the need to adjust our processes and training accordingly. As stewards of the environment, Jay also stressed the importance of using eco-friendly products while still keeping our customers safe.
For us, the investment in continuing education is crucial. As winters become more unpredictable, we’ve adapted to handle icier conditions and greater temperature swings, while minimizing environmental impact. Attending events like the SIMA symposium is just one way we make sure our team stays informed about issues like salt reduction practices that improve water quality without compromising public safety. At the end of the day, our mission remains the same: to provide safe, reliable, and efficient snow removal services, while doing our part to protect the environment.
